Tips for Opening Community Pools During the Pandemic

HOA Resources has written an article with some tips for opening your community’s pool this summer. Obviously, first and foremost, you must follow the state and federal guidelines for opening public spaces. When you get the green light to open, here are some things to consider:

  • Limit the number of people accessing the pool by utilizing a pool pass with a time frame.
  • Mark the waiting line in 6-foot increments.
  • Pool hours may have to be reduced to allow for more cleaning time.
  • Make sure pool furniture is spaced appropriately and consider removing some of it.
  • You may want to have a no-guest policy, and eliminate pool parties, games, swim lessons, swim meets, and water aerobics.
  • Consider employing a lifeguard. They can play a role in making sure residence practice social distancing.
  • Review insurance policies to look for exclusions to coverage related to the virus.

Communicate changes to your residents in a timely manner (emails, social media, and website updates).
